Brown comes up clutch again in A's impressive win vs. Rays

During the Athletics' 6-3 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday, Oakland outfielder Seth Brown didn’t waste any time getting the scoring started, hitting a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning off of Tyler Glasnow.

This was after a successful Friday night when Brown did something he dreamt about as a kid: He hit a walk-off home run in the A's 2-1 win over the Rays. It was the first of his career.

Despite the success, Brown won’t start on Sunday’s game, but it appears A’s manager Bob Melvin will have Brown in there at some point.

“Been unbelievable,” Melvin said. “The last two days, if we don’t have him, there’s a pretty good chance we don’t win the game. He stepped up big for us. Not only in these last two games, but since he’s been here.”

Brown was selected by the A’s in the 19th round of the 2015 MLB Draft.

Brown went 2-for-4 on Saturday, but it was his walk-off the night before that will stay in his mind.

“It’s something that everybody dreams about doing,” Brown said. “At that point in time, I’m just looking to help the team and I’m looking to put the ball in play somewhere and to have that happen tonight, it’s something that I’ve played out in my mind ever since I was a little kid. It’s every little kid’s dream is to do something like that so I thank God I was in that position and He blessed me the way he did. It was just an incredible moment.”
