Slugger Seth Brown did major damage to fuel the Athletics' 5-0 win over the Baltimore Orioles in Orioles Park at Camden Yards on Sunday.
After homering in the sixth inning, Brown faced off against the Orioles reliever Nick Vespi and took an inside pitch deep to the right field in the bottom of the eighth inning for his second solo home run of the day.
"We're finally starting to see results from everybody just all being together and trying to get the next guy up," Brown said. "If it's not [Sean Murphy], somebody else is going to come up big and it just happened to be me today."

The A's avoided the three-game sweep thanks to Brown's big afternoon. He went 3-for-4 with his 18th and 19th homers of the day. It was Brown's third-career two-home run game.
Additionally, Shea Langeliers drove in two runs and Sheldon Neuse added one run in the victory. After the win, A's manager Mark Kotsay raved about how his team played against a hungry Orioles squad looking for a playoff berth.
"We played a good baseball game today, clean baseball game," he said postgame. "You hear me talking a lot about playing clean gives us the best chance to win."
On the mound, Adrián Martínez put together another solid outing for the A's, following an impressive outing against the New York Yankees. In his six innings of work Sunday, he only allowed three hits, two walks and struck out four on 89 pitches.
"I'm just making sure to attack the zone," Martinez said, via an interpreter. "Last time, I made sure to try and focus on the batter, so batter-by-batter, and making sure I continue to do that and just focusing more on that rather than the negative outcome.
"I'm just really happy things played out this way."
The 25-year-old earned the win -- in just his fifth start since July 4 -- and is now 4-3 on the season.
From there, relievers Joel Payamps, Domingo Acevedo, and A.J. Puk picked up the slack and held Baltimore scoreless the rest of the way.
Oakland Athletics
For the Orioles, starter Spenser Wakins gave up nine hits, four earned runs and walked one in six innings. Offensively, the Orioles could not get anything going as the A's pitchers consistently keep the hitters on their heels, until the ninth inning.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, Puk came in to close the game for Oakland. Despite giving up a single and a walk, he struck out Austin Hays swinging to end the game.
It was an all-around team win for Oakland as the hitting, defense, and pitching all worked in unison to give the A's the season series win over Baltimore, 4-3.
"It's phenomenal," Brown said of the A's impressive day. "Martínez threw really, really well and they've got a lot of arms in the 'pen. Their whole staff is really, really good."
Brown said that this type of game shows the potential the A's have if they can do it consistently.
"It was fun to be out there today," Brown concluded.

The A's return to Oakland to take on Matt Olson and the Atlanta Braves for a two-game series starting Tuesday at 6:40 p.m. PT. Cole Irvin will be taking the mound for Oakland with Kyle Wright opposing him for the defending champions.
