It was one of those moments that made you forget a baseball game was happening.
When Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Stephen Vogt stepped up to the plate in the A’s 5-1 win Thursday night, there was a familiar sound:
Vogt, in his first year with the D-backs, spent five seasons with the A’s (2013-17) where Oakland fans dedicated a “We believe in Stephen Vogt” chant to him. The team made sure to bring that noise back, via speakers of course, when it was his turn to hit.
Vogt was not only surprised, but thankful for the gesture.
On Wednesday night, Vogt posed with a cardboard cutout of himself yesterday, courtesy of the A’s. That’s how much he meant toward the organization.

The “I believe” chant still follows him around to this day. He said no matter where he is, he hears it -- even heard it during spring training.
Vogt holds a special place in the heart of A’s fans and it was a very cool gesture by the team.
