Tanner Anderson will make his first career start Monday night as the A's open a three-game series in Tampa Bay against the Rays.

Anderson, 26, made six relief appearances last season for the Pittsburgh Pirates, going 1-0 with a 6.35 ERA. In 11 Triple-A games this year, including 10 starts, the right-hander went 4-4 with a 6.26 ERA.

Anderson won't face an easy task, as the Rays have won five of their last six games and are 40-24 overall, tied for first place in the AL East. Right-hander Charlie Morton will get the start for Tampa Bay, trying to extend a 20-game unbeaten streak. The 35-year-old is 7-0 with a 2.30 ERA in 13 starts this season.

For the A's, Beau Taylor will make his season debut behind the plate after getting called up from Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday. Taylor will give Josh Phegley a day off and bat ninth in the lineup. The 29-year-old posted a slash line of .297/.450/.492 with five home runs and 20 RBI in 38 games with Las Vegas this year. He went 1-for-5 last season with the A's.

Meanwhile, Robbie Grossman and Jurickson Profar return to the Oakland lineup after getting Sunday off. Grossman will bat sixth and Profar will hit eighth.
