Why A's executive Billy Beane believes handshakes now thing of past

The handshake is so not 2020. Just ask Billy Beane.

ESPN’s Howard Bryant recently spoke to the A’s executive vice president of baseball operations and Beane believes this certain greeting is not a thing anymore:

Luckily, being associated with the A’s, the famous Bash Brothers’ greeting of tapping one another on the elbows/forearms is one way the world could heal among the coronavirus pandemic.

And Beane makes a good point -- the people we greet with a handshake are usually those who we are trying to impress which means we’re putting on somewhat of a show for them.

Jose Canseco would never.

Canseco also made a public service announcement at the beginning of the pandemic by saying to stay away from handshaking anyways.

This also takes a burden off of high-fiving as well, a form of celebration the MLB protocols say should not be used in order to adhere to the safety protocols.

Handshaking is out.

“Bash instead,” Canseco once said.

Problem solved.
