Why A's president Kaval never misses a time to troll Giants

A’s president Dave Kaval loves to troll the Giants, so when it’s time for both teams to go up against one another in the Battle of the Bay series, it’s like the Super Bowl for him.

The two teams battle it out for three games in Oakland beginning Friday, which has us asking, why all the hype, Kaval?

“I love the local rivalry we have with the Giants, I think it’s a great way to bring attention to baseball as we compete with other sports where it’s the NBA or the NFL,” Kaval said on A’s Pregame Live on Friday. “It’s been great to see folks more aware of the trophy and the hardware. And obviously it’s made with pieces of the old Bay Bridge which is a cool thing.”

Kaval has done it all from composing tweets to troll Giants fans, to offering a way for the same fans to trade in orange and black hats for A’s ones.

But he loves it. He also admitted he doesn’t mind tooting the A’s horn a little bit. He’s proud knowing the A’s have a better record (31-19) heading into Friday night’s game, compared to the Giants’ 25-24 mark.

“I think that goes without saying,” Kaval said. “When you have a rivalry and you’re playing well, embrace that.”

While the A’s could clinch a playoff berth Friday night with a win over the Giants, and a Seattle Mariners loss over the San Diego Padres, the Giants still are clawing at the chance for one of two wild card spots in the National League. So don’t count them out.

Nevertheless, Kaval will be there making sure you notice the green and gold.
