Tickets for A’s spring training home games in Mesa, Ariz. will go on sale on Feb. 18.

Yep, you read that correctly. The A’s received approval from MLB and Maricopa County for a limited number of fans to attend games at Hohokam Stadium in 2021.

There will be limited capacity, and the team didn’t appear to announce a specific number of fans that would be able to attend. However, they did announce they will provide complimentary tickets to vaccinated health care workers.

The A’s stressed that fans must follow social distancing guidelines that have been set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and approved by local health officials.

“To maximize safety, tickets will be sold in physically distanced “pods” of two or four contiguous seats only,” the A’s said in a statement on Friday. “Due to limited capacity, season and group tickets will not be available this season.”

Only mobile tickets will be accepted at the gates.

The Giants, who play their home spring training games in Scottsdale, Ariz., about 20 minutes away from Mesa, received approval to host between 750 and 1,000 fans.

Arizona was the top hot spot in the United States in reported coronavirus cases, but recently did see a decline in hospitalizations for the disease, but according to NBC’s 12 News affiliate in Phoenix, as of Friday, there were over 2,400 new COVID cases and 172 new deaths.
