Daniel Cormier is in Khabib Nurmagomedov's corner -- even now, after his friend made the wrong decision at UFC 229.
Khabib, who trains with Cormier at the American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, made a mess of his Saturday night win in Las Vegas by leaping out of the octagon after the fight, allegedly after one of Conor McGregor's teammates yelled something at him.
The bad blood that boiled before the fight certainly spilled over afterward, and Cormier, the UFC's heavyweight champion, tried to deliver some perspective after brawl that Khabib sparked.
Hey guys, two wrongs don’t make it right. Conor didn’t deserve that. No one did. But some things aren’t for fight promotion. Religion, family, country. Throwing stuff in Brooklyn. For Khabib it wasn’t fight promotion, it was really personal. Diff culture man. Sucks— Daniel Cormier (@dc_mma) October 7, 2018
Cormier and UFC fighter Luke Rockhold, who also trains with them in San Jose, were in the octagon after the fight, trying to calm down the situation. And now we wait to hear if Khabib even will retain the UFC lightweight championship he fought so hard for, as the Nevada Athletic Commission investigates the whole thing.
Cormier's tweet drew reactions from fighters and fans alike ...
No matter what has been said 2 bare knuckle men cannot attack a man who has just been fighting for 20 mins.. one from behind also.. Khabib has the win and embarrassed Conor! How was this not enough? There is not 2 sides to this there is only one and Khabib is at full fault!— Tony Bellew (@TonyBellew) October 7, 2018

McGregor threw bottles at Diaz.
McGregor attacked a bus and nearly blinded a person.
McGregor insulted Khabib’s dad and his religion.
Bunch of hypocrites. No one calls him out for this.
Your boy got smashed. Just take the L. 27-0 #UFC229
