Raiders, Broncos clash in Denver
The Raiders (5-7) are in Denver with an upset on their mind vs. the Broncos (10-2) on Dec. 13, 2015.
Broncos strike first
Broncos kicker Brandon McManus put six points on the board for the Broncos in the first quarter. McManus finished off Denver's first drive with a 41-yard field goal and their second with a 35-yarder. He nailed one from 29 yards out and another from 20, giving the Broncos a 12-0 lead at the half.
The Raiders went into halftime trailing 12-0 in favor of the Broncos. Though Oakland kept them out of the end zone, they were out-gained by a large margin. The Broncos totaled 224 yards in the first half, while the Raiders had -12.
In a scary scene, Raiders offensive tackle Austin Howard went down in the third quarter. The Raiders listed him as questionable for the rest of the game with a knee injury.
Roberts to the rescue
After gaining negative yards in the first half, Derek Carr and the Raiders were ready to redeem themselves in the second half. Carr hit Seth Roberts with a perfect over-the-shoulder catch in the back of the end zone. The score was Roberts' fifth touchdown of the season and made it a five-point game with the Broncos leading 12-7.
Another week, another huge play for the Raiders from safety Charles Woodson. Down 12-7, Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas fumbled and Woodson was there to scoop it up. Woodson now has three fumble recoveries on the year, giving him a new career high.
Oakland's defense struck again with a huge strip-sack from Khalil Mack. As Brock Osweiler rolled in his own end zone, the ball came loose with Jon Condo falling on it for a safety, narrowing Denver's lead to 12-9.
Just like that, the Raiders took the lead with 15 unanswered points. Derek Carr found tight end Mychal Rivera for a 16-yard touchdown to give the Raiders a 15-12 lead, stunning the Denver crown. Rivera hauled in his first touchdown of the year. The Raiders held off the Broncos and pulled off a huge upset in Denver for their sixth win of the year.
