49ers GM John Lynch congratulates Bruce Bochy after notching 2,000th win

49ers general manager John Lynch knows a thing or two about winning. And he wanted to make sure he tipped his cap to Giants manager Bruce Bochy, who notched his 2,000th career win on Wednesday night.

Before he ran the 49ers' front office, Lynch had a career of his own as a safety in the NFL where he earned nine Pro Bowl honors, was selected to the All-Pro team twice and got himself a Super Bowl championship ring. He gets what it's like to have success in a sport.

Bochy's 2,000th win was earned in front of a Boston Red Sox crowd at historic Fenway Park. The W also was sealed in the midst of the Carl and Mike Yastrzemski mania, as the Hall of Famer and his grandson took center stage in Boston. So to say it was one of the perfect ways to end Bochy's tenure is an understatement.

Bochy plans to retire at the end of the season and is bound for the Baseball Hall of Fame. Every manager with at least 2,000 wins to his name has been inducted into Cooperstown.
