Blanco takes advantage
The Royals made the first miscue of Game 4, as Jason Vargas threw a wild pitch in the bottom of the first inning, allowing Gregor Blanco, who walked, to advance to second base.
Giants manufacture first run
After reaching second on the wild pitch, Gregor Blanco stole third and scored a fielder's choice off the bat of Hunter Pence, giving the Giants a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Royals even Game 4
Ryan Vogelsong ran into trouble in the top of the third inning. Alex Gordon reached on a fielder's choice, stole second and moved to third on an infield single by Lorenzo Cain. Gordon scored on an infield single by Eric Hosmer to tie the game 1-1.
Infante breaks tie
After Mike Moustakas walked to load the bases, Omar Infante continued his success against Ryan Vogelsong, singling to center to drive in two runs, giving the Royals a 3-1 lead in the top of the third inning.
Vogelsong knocked out early
A Salvador Perez RBI-single was the final straw for Ryan Vogelsong, who exited with the Royals leading 4-1. Vogelsong's final line: 2.2 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 62 pitches.
Posey drives in Duffy
Buster Posey cut the Royals' lead to 4-2 in the bottom of the third with a single to left to drive in Matt Duffy from second base.
Vargas pulled in fifth
Jason Vargas gave up a double to Joe Panik to lead off the bottom of the fifth inning and was pulled from the game. His final line: 4+ IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 82 pitches.
Pence cuts deficit to 4-3
Joe Panik led off the bottom of the fifth with a double and moved to third on a ground out by Buster Posey. He scored on Hunter Pence's single to center, cutting the Royals' lead to 4-3.
Perez ties game
Brandon Belt walked to load the bases and Juan Perez hit a sacrifice fly to center that scored Hunter Pence, tying the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the fifth.
With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, Pablo Sandoval drove in Gregor Blanco and Buster Posey with a single to center field, giving the Giants a 6-4 lead. Brandon Belt added an RBI-single to boost the lead to 7-4.
Giants blow it open in seventh
In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on first and second, Gregor Blanco reached on an infield single and Royals pitcher Tim Collins threw the ball away, allowing Brandon Crawford to score, giving the Giants an 8-4 lead.
Panik doubles in two
The next batter, Joe Panik doubled in Michael Morse and Gregor Blanco to increase the Giants' lead to 10-4. After Buster Posey grounded out, Hunter Pence doubled down the left field line to increase the lead to 11-4.
