Bumgarner closes out Giants' third title in five years
Giants strike first
Pablo Sandoval was hit by a pitch to start the top of the second inning. Hunter Pence and Brandon Belt followed with singles and Michael Morse brought Sandoval home with a sacrifice fly to right field giving the Giants a 1-0 lead.
Giants put up crooked number
Brandon Crawford followed that up with a sacrifice fly of his own to bring Pence home to increase the Giants' lead to 2-0 in the second inning.
Royals answer back
Tim Hudson was unable to put together a shutdown inning. Billy Butler led off the bottom of the second with a single and lumbered all the way around the bases on a double by Alex Gordon to cut the Giants' lead to 2-1.
Royals knock Hudson out
After Gordon's double, Salvador Perez was hit by a pitch. Back-to-back sacrifice fly's by Mike Moustakas and Omar Infante brought Gordon home to tie the game 2-2. Alcides Escobar followed with a single to left, knocking Hudson out of the game after just 1.2 innings pitched. Jeremy Affeldt relieved him.
Panik starts incredible DP
Lorenzo Cain led off the bottom of the third inning with a single to right, but Eric Hosmer hit a ball to Joe Panik's right. The rookie made a diving stop and flipped to Brandon Crawford, who threw to first. Hosmer was originally called safe, but the Giants challenged the call and it was overturned for a double play.
Morse gives Giants the lead
Sandoval and Pence led off the top of the fourth with back-to-back singles. Sandoval moved to third on a sacrifice fly by Brandon Belt. Michael Morse delivered a bloop single to right to drive in Sandoval to give the Giants a 3-2 lead.
Giants bring in Bumgarner
Holding a 3-2 lead, the Giants brought Madison Bumgarner in to pitch the bottom of the fifth inning. Throwing on two-days rest, he pitched five scoreless innings, carrying the Giants to their third world championship.
