BALTIMORE -- A day as the designated hitter was supposed to ease the load on Buster Posey's body. Instead, he was pulled from the Giants' 8-2 win over the Orioles with right hamstring soreness after an at-bat in the seventh inning.

Posey had an awkward mini-collision with Orioles pitcher Miguel Castro as he reached the bag on a grounder to first and immediately seemed to notice that something was wrong with his leg. He jogged slowly back to the dugout and went straight to the clubhouse with manager Dave Groeschner.

“He’s day to day,” manager Bruce Bochy said. “We think he’ll be OK by Tuesday.”

Bochy said Posey could be available to pinch-hit Sunday. The Giants are off Monday and then have a three-game series with the Mets.
