Giants manager Gabe Kapler gave Camilo Doval the toughest test of his young MLB career Monday night, and the 24-year-old aced it with flying colors.

The rookie reliever was tasked with getting the final six outs in Game 3 of the National League Division Series, and he set down the Los Angeles Dodgers in order to record the save in a 1-0 win.

The Giants now lead the best-of-five series two-games-to-one and will look to close out their archrivals Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium.

Doval, who was sent down to minors in the middle of the season, has exceled ever since coming back up to the big leagues at the beginning of September.

After the game, Doval was asked what his reaction was when Kapler told him he was going out for a second inning.

"I got it, papi. I'm ready," Doval told reporters.

With his six-out save Monday night, Doval made MLB history.

Doval now is one of five rookies to record a two-plus inning save since 1969.

John Antonelli is the only other 24-year-old in Giants history to record a postseason save.

Both of the Giants' wins in the NLDS have been shutouts, and they now have 20 combined shutouts between the regular season and postseason, the most in MLB this year.

Doval now has pitched three scoreless innings in his first postseason. Just two years ago, he was pitching for High-A San Jose, and now he's saving an MLB playoff game in front of 53,299 fans at Dodger Stadium.
