Kruk sounds off on Rodón, Webb's All-Star snubs: ‘It stinks'

When the 2022 MLB All-Star Game’s full rosters were announced on Sunday, many couldn’t believe Giants pitchers Carlos Rodón and Logan Webb were left off the list.

Add to that group Mike Krukow, who went on an epic rant about the co-aces’ snubs before the Giants game against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Oracle Park on Monday night.

“Well, it stinks,” the longtime San Francisco broadcaster told the “Giants Pregame Live” crew. “They both deserve to go. They’ve had brilliant first halves, and they’ve really, really given the team a chance to win, regardless of how well the team is playing.

“I think that’s the sign of an All-Star, is that he elevates those around him. And I think both those guys do. When they go out there, it’s Win Day.”

Rodón was snubbed despite currently leading all NL pitchers in WAR and ranking second in strikeouts, while Webb has been another reliable bright spot in the midst of the Giants’ inconsistent season.

Instead, Joc Pederson will be the lone Giants representative at Dodger Stadium on July 19.

Krukow made it clear he believes both pitchers are deserving of a spot on the National League roster, but that he especially feels for Webb.

“I think the problem with it is, now look, Rodón was an All-Star last year [with the Chicago White Sox]. The rest of his life, he’s always going to be introduced as a major league All-Star,” Krukow continued. “Well, that hasn’t happened yet for Logan Webb and it should. You can’t 25 years from now go, ‘Here’s a guy who’s going to be here tonight. Please welcome a guy who almost made the All-Star team. Please welcome Logan Webb.’

“You can’t do that. It ain’t the same. So it stinks.”

While all hope isn’t lost, Krukow’s words likely resonate with Giants fans.

Rodón still could be named to the team as a replacement, but Webb is scheduled to pitch next Sunday, making his chances unlikely.

In the meantime, they can both rest assured knowing Krukow has their back.
