The Giants were two outs away from putting away the Dodgers in the opener of a crucial three-game series.
It all came down to one play.
Leading 1-0 in the top of the ninth inning, the Giants ran into trouble as closer Jake McGee allowed the tying and go-ahead runs to advance into scoring position.

A groundball to second base resulted in a throw home, and a subsequent rundown with Justin Turner running backward from home to third base. Giants catcher Buster Posey chased him back, where the trail runner Corey Seager was also standing after advancing on the play.
One of the two runners was in trouble, but Posey had an opportunity to nab both of them after confusion ensued.
Turner was safe at third once he got back to the bag, which meant a simple tag of Seager would have recorded the second out.
Not paying attention, Turner then steps off third base for some reason, as does Seager. Unfortunately for the Giants, Posey chased the wrong runner.

If he were to tag Turner after coming off the base, the Giants would have had a game-ending double play and a huge win over the Dodgers.
Instead, Chris Taylor singled to center in the next at-bat to tie the game, which would ultimately go to extra innings.
Plenty of confusion resulted in a bad break for the Giants.
