With the MLB Rule 5 Draft approaching, the Giants have ensured two of their top prospects would not be available to the rest of the league. Heliot Ramos, Sean Hjelle and Randy Rodriguez were added to the Giants' 40-man roster on Friday, among a series of roster moves.

Ramos is the Giants' No. 4 prospect and No. 80 overall in MLB. Hjelle is the Giants' No. 13 prospect, and Rodriguez is not among the organization's top 30, but did post a 1.74 ERA over 62 innings with the Low-A San Jose Giants.

Dedniel Nunez was selected by the Giants in the Rule 5 Draft last year, but underwent Tommy John surgery in March and never made an appearance for the Orange and Black. He now will return to the New York Mets organization.

Jay Jackson, who was designated for assignment, had a 3.74 ERA in 21 2/3 innings for the Giants in 2021, making 23 relief appearances. Jackson also made 10 appearances for the Sacramento River Cats in Triple-A, with a 1.29 ERA over 14 innings.

Ramos would have been available for the other 29 MLB teams in the Rule 5 Draft, but the Giants ensured they will maintain control over the young outfielder with Friday's move.

The 2021 Rule 5 Draft will be held on Dec. 9.
