Infielder Abiatal Avelino has played just three games in the Giants system, but the team has already decided to call up the 23-year-old.

According to Avelino's Dominican Winter League team, the Giants #17 ranked prospect has been called up. Henry Schulman of The San Francisco Chronicle confirmed that Avelino will be called up on Tuesday.

Over the weekend, Giants manager Bruce Bochy hinted at the possibility of Avelino being called up soon.

Acquired on Friday from the Yankees along with RHP Juan De Paula for Andrew McCutchen, Avelino went 2-for-13 with two runs scored, an RBI and two stolen bases in three games for Triple-A Sacramento.

Before joining the Giants, Avelino hit .287 with 15 homers, 13 doubles, eight triples and 25 stolen bases in 31 attempts in 123 games between Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre.
