Wind stops Scherzer mid-windup in NLDS Game 3 vs. Giants

The Giants and Dodgers played Game 3 of the National League Division Series on Monday night at Dodger Stadium, but the scene felt and looked more like a game at Candlestick Park.

Along most of the West Coast, the wind was whipping all day, and it had an affect on the ballpark in Chavez Ravine, as the foul poles were seen swaying before the game. The flags were blowing straight out to right field. The wind even caused the pregame fireworks to drift.

In the top of the first inning, Dodgers starter Max Scherzer was in the middle of his windup when a gust of wind caused him to stop his motion.

Later in the top of the first inning, Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford asked the home plate umpire for time due to a gust of wind, but wasn't granted time.

The good news for Giants starter Alex Wood is that if didn't impact him in the bottom of the first innings, as he got Trea Turner to fly out to right field without incident.
