Giants fans have mixed reviews to home uniforms with names

The Giants on Friday played their first home game with fans at Oracle Park since Sept. 29, 2019. There are plenty of changes around the ballpark, but the biggest change is on the back of Giants jerseys.

Fans got their first look at the Giants wearing their cream home jerseys with last names on the back. The nameless jerseys were a homage to the Giants team that arrived in San Francisco in 1958 and were a favorite of many fans.

The new jerseys certainly got a bag of mixed reviews from fans.

The Giants' goal of the change is for fans to better recognize players, especially new faces and those coming up from the minor leagues. The Giants used an NL-record 64 players in 2019 and had 45 different players put on their jersey over 60 games in 2020.

"It's hard to put all the faces to names," Giants manager Gabe Kapler said earlier this year.
