Giants fans are growing impatient waiting for "that big signing" to take place this offseason.
The one person who understands that is newly-hired president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi. He's aware the roster from last season up until now almost mirror one another.
That means we are expecting some changes, right?

Maybe not. But if something does take place -- expect it to be as late in the offseason as possible.
When the SF Chronicle's Henry Schulman interviewed Zaidi, the answers didn't appear to have any context behind them that a blockbuster trade -- or any derivative -- will take place in the coming weeks.
“I will say, unequivocally, that our player-acquisition strategy is not driven by who we think is a, quote-unquote, brand name and who would be perceived as a big-splash acquisition,” Zaidi told The Chronicle. “We want to acquire players who make the team better in 2019 and beyond."
He also mentioned the organization was focused on production, and not "the guys that grab the most attention on the ESPN ticker."
San Francisco Giants
I don't have to list those players, we are all aware of the Manny Machado and Bryce Harpers floating around the lucrative free agency pool at the moment.
For now, it's apparent Troy Tulowitzki will not be in a Giants' uniform next season -- and despite a report saying San Francisco was drawing interest in All-Star pitcher Patrick Corbin, he will be with the Nationals next season.
And as far as Harper goes, you may not want to hold your breath.
Even with all the "no's" and "what could have been's," Zaidi remains hopeful the free agency market is plentiful.
“From a timing standpoint, plenty of deals get done in January and some deals get done in February,” he said. “It does seem that offseason activity gets later and later every year. I don’t feel any pressure to get something done until and unless we think it’s the right thing to do."
We've seen it before where Spring Training begins and big names haven't been signed. Or when the Florida, Arizona months are warming up, players travel from one facility to the next finding out they will be sporting new threads.

Zaidi adds he and the team continue to be motivated, but a desperate move could hurt them in the long run.
Let's hope the latest words from him give a more understanding outlook for the near and not so near future for the Giants.
