What we learned as Giants earn second straight blowout win

Steven Duggar's RBI triple off Dodgers starter Walker Buehler on Sunday seemed to usher a wave of confidence into the Giants' dugout. He had two more triples in Tuesday's 12-3 win over the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field, through which the team's confidence only continued to grow.

The Giants won their third straight game Tuesday night behind equally impressive performances in the batter's box and on the mound. Logan Webb continued his dominant stretch, allowing just three runs and nine hits across seven innings with six strikeouts. He pounded the strike zone from the start and didn't trail any Rockies' hitter in a count until the fourth inning.

Webb cruised through six before running into some trouble in the seventh. The three runs he allowed snapped his streak of 14 consecutive starts allowing two runs or fewer, but given the location, his performance certainly was nothing to scoff at. Though the Giants' rotation currently is without two starters, it is not without an ace.

Webb's start was more than enough for the Giants, who never trailed in the game. Tommy La Stella, Brandon Belt and Buster Posey opened the top of the first with three consecutive doubles to take a 2-0 lead before an out was recorded. Brandon Crawford eventually drove Posey in with an RBI single, and the Giants continued to pile on the hits from there.

Duggar hit his first triple of the game with one out in the second and immediately scored on Webb's first-pitch RBI double down the left field line. Duggar doubled to right center to lead off the fourth, and then came up to bat again in the fifth with the bases loaded. His third-straight extra-base hit cleared the bases and turned the game into a rout.

The Giants set a season-high with 10 extra-base hits in the win. They've scored 22 runs through the first two games of the series, and have yet another opportunity to take advantage of spacious Coors Field in the series finale Wednesday.
