The Johnny Cueto rehab tour is rolling on to Sacramento.
Cueto, who underwent Tommy John surgery last August, took the latest step in his quest to return to the Giants when he tossed 60 pitches for Class-A Advanced San Jose on Tuesday. Cueto surrendered five runs on four hits while striking out three and walking one in 4 1/3 innings. The number of pitches is more important than the results, though, and Cueto's 60 pitches were enough to see him advance to the next stage of his rehab.
On Wednesday, the Giants announced Cueto would be headed to Triple-A Sacramento to pitch for the River Cats.

"Right-handed pitcher Johnny Cueto threw 60 pitches in his fourth rehab start last night, pitching for Class A Advanced San Jose. Cueto, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, will join triple-A Sacramento for his next rehab start on Monday, August 26 and is scheduled to make at least two starts with the River Cats."
Two more starts for Cueto would put him in line to return for the series against the Dodgers on Sept. 6-8.

The Giants currently are 4 1/2 games out of the second wild-card spot, but five teams are in front of them.
With Tyler Beede struggling in the rotation, the Giants could use a late-season jolt from Cueto to try and make it to the playoffs.
