It sounds like Giants fans will have to wait until 2022 to honor No. 22.
During an appearance on KNBR on Saturday morning, Giants executive vice president of business operations Mario Alioto said he spoke to Will Clark recently and the organization is likely to push Clark's jersey number retirement ceremony back another year.
"Most likely we're probably going to wait until 2022. It's probably the best time to retire his number, actually, in 2022," Alioto said. "With all of the uncertainty right now with respect to fans, when he gets honored we want to make sure we have an absolutely full house with 100 percent capacity."

Clark initially was going to be honored last July 11, but a few weeks before the shortened season was set up the Giants decided to push that ceremony and other 2020 events back to 2021. They hope to have fans back in the seats for Opening Day, but the expectation is that it will be a very limited number at first because of ongoing COVID-19 concerns and anything close to a full house is unlikely in 2021.

The Giants have not yet decided what they'll do with all of last season's promotions, Alioto said. They intended to give out a Mike Yastrzemski bobblehead, Johnny Cueto gnome and other items, and the 2010 title team was going to be honored last August. Alioto said it's likely that there will be nothing handed out over the first month of the season.
"We've got to make sure the ballpark is operating smoothly with all the protocols," Alioto said.
