Heliot Ramos injury: Top Giants prospect to miss at least a month

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Giants have made it through the first month of the season without any injuries, but their farm system has taken a couple of blows.

San Jose Giants outfielder Heliot Ramos has an LCL sprain in his left knee and will miss four to five weeks, the team announced Sunday. San Jose was already without catcher Joey Bart for at least the next month because of a fractured hand.

Bart and Ramos are the organization's top two prospects and both were off to good starts. Bart had a .882 OPS and two homers in 10 games before he got hit by a pitch. Ramos had five homers in 19 games and an OPS over 1.000 before tweaking his knee on a swing earlier this week.

While Bart is more advanced and on a faster track that could have landed him in San Francisco by September, this shouldn't be too big a setback for Ramos, who is just 19 and likely would have spent the entire season -- or most of it -- in San Jose.
