Cueto, Crawford feeling pretty, pretty good after ‘vintage' game

Share

Vintage Johnny Cueto on repeat, please.

The good news was Giants manager Gabe Kapler finally got his chance to do his job in front of fans Friday. The bad news is heard some boo birds when he removed Cueto one out from a complete game.

In Friday’s 3-1 win over the Colorado Rockies, Cueto struck out seven in 8 2/3 innings while giving up four hits and walking just one. He looked like his old self, and the Giants’ Twitter account wanted to show that.

Cueto responded pretty, pretty accurately:

Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford did as well.

Crawford had a two-run double in the bottom of the seventh off of Tyler Kinley which was more than enough for Cueto.

Also, this is a "Curb Your Enthusiasm" reference for you young ones reading this blog.

Those 8 2/3 innings were the longest by Cueto since 2016 and it was the perfect time to show off in front of 7,390 very happy Giants fans.

Cueto really wanted to finish the game and even posted an image of Kapler removing him with a funny caption.

Cueto didn't get the complete game, but his vintage outing was the kind of throwback performance the Giants needed.
