Kris Bryant was acquired by the Giants in the final hours of the MLB trade deadine, and appeared to have a wholesome reaction as he received the call in the Chicago Cubs' dugout.
The Giants sent Alexander Canario and Caleb Kilian to the Cubs in exchange for Bryant, the Giants announced on Friday afternoon.
Sitting in fourth place in the NL Central as the end of July arrives, the Cubs went all in on selling off their top players, also trading Anthony Rizzo, Javier Baez and Craig Kimbrel.
The Giants now add a former NL MVP and versatile hitter who can play third base as well as left field.
Bryant spent his first six and a half MLB seasons with the Cubs, and understandably would be a bit emotional about finally being traded.
After what the Giants' rivals in the NL West were able to pull off prior to Friday's deadline, Bryant will be critical to helping San Francisco maintain its division lead.
