Kings fan Webb wears Steph jersey after losing bet with B-Craw

HOUSTON — Giants ace Logan Webb walked into the visiting clubhouse at Minute Maid Park wearing a Steph Curry jersey. The lifelong Sacramento Kings fan smiled, put his hands up and said, “No questions, no questions.”

Golden State Warriors fan Joc Pederson was happy to speak for him.

“There he is,” he yelled. “The newest fan!”

Webb had to wear the jersey during batting practice Tuesday after losing a bet to Warriors fan Brandon Crawford. The two made a cash bet before the series started but changed to jerseys, with Curry picked out if Webb lost and Jason Williams if Crawford lost. Curry’s historic 50-point performance in Game 7 decided the series and the bet.

“We watched a lot of the games together,” Webb said. “I also watched some with Joc. Unfortunately.”

The wildly entertaining series allowed for plenty of smack talk between three Northern California natives. When the Kings won Game 6, Webb sent the eyeballs emoji to his teammates. After Game 7, Crawford responded with the same one and Pederson sent the group a splash emoji.

Despite the disappointing ending, Webb said he was proud of the Kings and excited for their future.

“It was awesome to watch,” he said. “As a fan of sports and also a player, seeing a young team come together and create cool things like 'Light The Beam,' that’s all of our goal, to create that culture. That’s a blueprint for a lot of teams. It was obviously exciting as a fan.

“They have a really bright future, especially with the guy [Kings coach Mike Brown] at the top leading them. It seems like he knows when to get on guys and also when to give them a hug. They’re going to be around for a while. And if we were going to lose, at least it was to the defending champs.”

As for what’s next in the Western Conference playoffs, that’s easy.

“It’s always Beat L.A.,” Webb said, smiling.
