Darren Baker wasn't even four years old when he served as a bat boy for the Giants during the 2002 World Series.
While it was supposed to be a fun way to involve the son of Giants manager Dusty Baker, it led to one of the stranger moments in a baseball history.
In the seventh inning of Game 5 against the then-Anaheim Angels, with JT Snow at third base and David Bell at second base, Kenny Lofton hit a ball to right field at then-Pacific Bell Park. The ball bounced off the brick wall and shot towards right center field.

Snow scored easily and Bell was right behind him. But as Snow cross home plate, he noticed Darren Baker in the area trying to retrieve Lofton's bat. Wisely, Snow grabbed Baker by his oversize Giants jacket and carried him to safety.
After that incident, MLB instituted a rule stating that all bat boys must be at least 14 years old to serve in the role.
With that in mind, the Miami Marlins had fun with one of their top prospects, Jazz Chisholm, on Sunday and invoked Darren Baker's name to do it.
The 22-year-old Chisholm, who was promoted this week and made his MLB debut on Sept. 1, is a big fan of the Sour Patch kids candy and he brought a bag to the dugout Sunday. His team tried to remind him that kids aren't allowed in the dugouts.
Darren Baker, who plays his college ball for Cal, saw the tweet and responded.
