Matt Cain takes playful shot at Giants fans over perfect game attendance

According to official record, 42,298 people attended Matt Cain's perfect game on June 13, 2012.

In a letter he wrote to fans on The Players Tribune, Cain took a jab at all the fans that say they were there when they probably weren't.

"Not going to call anyone from S.F. a liar, but I’ll just say this: There were about 42,000 people in attendance that day.

And in the last five years, I think I’ve met all 100,000 of them."

Cain's feat against the Astros was the first perfect game in the long history of the Giants franchise. He struck out 14 Houston batters en route to becoming the 22nd pitcher to throw a perfect game.
