Mets trade Matt Harvey to Reds

The Dark Knight is not coming to San Francisco.

Despite rumors that the Giants might have interest in Matt, the Mets traded the troubled pitcher to the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday afternoon.

The Mets will receive catcher Devin Mesoraco in return.

Harvey was designated for assignment by the Mets on Saturday after he refused a minor league assignment. As a starter this year, Harvey allowed 14 earned runs in 21 innings. So the Mets shifted him to the bullpen despite his unhappiness with the move.

His time in the bullpen went even worse. In six innings over four appearances, Harvey gave up seven earned runs. In 27 total innings this season, he's given up six home runs.
