MLB odds: Giants' World Series chances skyrocket during winning streak

Raise your hand if you bet on the Giants winning the World Series this year? Put your hand down, liar.

If for some reason you did put money on the team to win it all after losing 187 games the last two seasons, you could be in store for a lot of money. But not quite as much if you open your wallet for the orange and black now.

The Giants entered Wednesday's slate of games with 40-1 odds to win the World Series, per Caesar's Palace Sportsbook. That's a big difference compared to not so long ago.

The Giants entered the day just two games back of the second spot in the NL wild-card race. They have won 17 of their last 20 games and are 16-3 in July.

The last time the Giants won the title was 2014, their third championship in five seasons. Since then, they have failed to make the playoffs in three of the last four years.

But can they bring back the magic in manager Bruce Bochy's last season in the dugout? The odds are more and more in their favor.
