While the Giants' front office still is searching for their next manager, they're not wasting any time making roster moves.
MLB.com's William Boor reported Tuesday that the Giants have claimed right-handed pitcher Rico Garcia off waivers from the Rockies. San Francisco had an open spot on its 40-man roster and decided to go with an arm that dominated in Double-A this past season.

Garcia, 25, went 8-2 with a 1.85 ERA over 13 starts for the Hartford Yard Goats. He also struck out 87 batters in 68 innings and had a minuscule 0.94 WHIP. But then he faced the terrors of the Pacific Coast League and Coors Field.
The 5-foot-11 right-hander had a 6.90 ERA in Triple-A Albuquerque, where he allowed 14 homers in 13 starts. Garcia made his MLB debut on Aug. 27, and once again had to pitch in an extremely hitter-friendly environment.

Both of Garcia's starts in the bigs this season were at Coors Field. He gave up three homers and seven earned runs in six innings, but walking five certainly didn't help him.

Garcia was the Rockies' No. 20 prospect before the Giants claimed him. The former 30th-round draft pick looks to be worth taking a flier on.
