Before the Giants started their four-game series against the Brewers with two straight losses, CEO Larry Baer said, "We're gonna be a buyer if we can be a buyer." Is that still true as the MLB trade deadline on Tuesday gets closer with each passing hour?
A new report on Saturday seems to confirm Baer's hopeful statements. The Giants are reportedly interested in Twins second baseman Brian Dozier.
According to Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press, the Giants have been scouting Dozier all this week. In the last week, Dozier is batting .240 with two doubles and 10 strikeouts in six games.

Dozier is in the midst of a down year for the disappointing Twins. The 2015 All-Star is hitting a career-low .226 and his on-base percentage (.307) and slugging percentage (.715) are both career lows for a full season.
What Dozier brings is power. Despite him struggling at the plate this season, Dozier does have 16 home runs. Brandon Belt, who is currently on the DL, leads the Giants with 14 long balls.
Dozier becomes a free agent at the end of the 2018 season.
San Francisco Giants
The Giants are currently banged up at second base with Joe Panik on the DL. Panik began his rehab assignment in Triple-A on Thursday and has gone 1-for-3 in back-to-back games for the River Cats. While he's on the shelf, the Giants are primarily using utility man Allen Hanson at second base.
Going into Saturday's slate of games, the Giants (52-53) are 6.5 games back in the NL West and 5 games back in the wild card standings.
