MLB win totals: Giants projected to win 71 games in 2020 by sports book

The Giants have improved their win totals each of the last two seasons. After winning a paltry 64 games in 2017, San Francisco had 73 victories in 2018 and 77 such in 2019.

But Caesars Sports Book expects the Giants' yearly improvement to stop at two years in a row. On Wednesday, Caesars released its projected win totals for the 2020 MLB season, and it doesn't look good for Gabe Kapler's squad.

The Giants are projected to win only 71 games this year, which is the lowest in the NL West. The Los Angeles Dodgers are projected to take home the division crown with 99 wins -- the highest in the NL. Rounding out the NL West projections is the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres each at 83 wins, with the Colorado Rockies ahead of San Francisco at 74 wins.

A new era of Giants baseball is underway, with plenty of eyes looking towards the future. Gone are two franchise legends from their dynasty. Bruce Bochy retired as manager at the end of last season, and Madison Bumgarner signed with the D-backs this offseason.

Kapler, a big fan of fine cuisine, takes over in the dugout with a wide range of coaches around him. Veterans Johnny Cueto and Jeff Samardzija will headline the rotation, but after that, there are plenty of question marks.

On offense, players such as Buster Posey, Brandon Belt and Brandon Crawford still are around. Again, the focus is on the future with young players like Mauricio Dubon, who is expected to start at second base.

The farm system is on the rise, and top prospects Joey Bart and Heliot Ramos could make their MLB debuts this upcoming season. Wins might not come aplenty at Oracle Park, but an infusion of youth should excite fans.

The Giants have beaten the odds before and will look to do so again to start off a new decade of baseball in San Francisco.
