MRI reveals Grade 1 hamstring strain for Giants' Pagan

Giants outfielder Angel Pagan has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 strain in his left hamstring after undergoing an MRI Monday, CSN Bay Area has learned.

Pagan left Sunday's win over the Mets in the seventh inning after pulling up short in between first and second base on his RBI single.

"I was trying to go for a double and I tried to stop and I just felt a little tweak," he said. "But it's nothing bad. It's just something that could happen to anyone. It's tough weather (in New York), too. It just happened. There's nothing I can do about it."

Pagan has been limited by injuries for much of his time with the Giants but he said he has never had a serious hamstring injury. A surgical procedure he had in 2013 was on a tendon behind his left knee.

The veteran outfielder has been healthy since the start of camp this year and was the last position player to get a day off. He is batting .315 this season with two homers and 13 RBI, and he has played well defensively after a move from center.

"He's done such a great job for us," manager Bochy said. "Meanwhile, we've got (Gregor) Blanco ready to go."

The Giants called up outfielder Mac Williamson up from Triple-A Sacramento Monday and he will platoon with Blanco in left field. With a lefty on the hill for the Reds Monday, Williamson is batting sixth for the Giants.

Manager Bruce Bochy said Pagan will likely be out four to five days before Monday's contest in Cincinnati.
