1. Matt Cain's Perfect Game in 2012 (14-time winner -- Defeated Giants win 1989 NL pennant on Will Clark's game-winning two-run single vs Cubs)

(From Matt Cain - Giants Pitcher, 2005-2017)

The Perfect Game was one of the most memorable nights of my playing career.

I had always dreamed of throwing a no-hitter. I had come so close so many times throughout my career and in my younger years, but never had one.

The ballpark was so electric that night. We had the TaylorMade guys out hitting golf balls. Dustin Johnson hitting monster drives into McCovey Cove, and I snuck one good swing in there as well.

Pretty surreal day. I still think back to all the plays and pitches during that game. To have every single player on the same wave length and all realizing what was unfolding is truly something special. Everyone likes to say I pitched a perfect game and I get the credit for it but I’m in debt to everyone of the guys who made a play behind me , one that still doesn’t make sense in right center field, and I owe the most to the guy who called 125 perfect pitches behind the plate.

Thanks to all the fans that have come up to me and shared there story about that night. So fun to hear them all!!

2. Giants win 2012 NL Pennant against Cardinals in rain-soaked Game 7

(From Alex Pavlovic)

There are many things you can associate with rain at a ballpark. The tarp is rushed out, players retreat to the clubhouses, fans scurry for the concourses, and eventually managers and umpires meet to examine the puddles and determine if they can play on. The Giants put a twist on all this in Game 7 of the 2012 NLCS, giving the franchise one of its defining images.

The rain came late, and this time, the teams played on. Sergio Romo dug into a mound that was rebuilt by the grounds crew as he warmed up. The fans at AT&T Park cheered louder with every increase in the downpour. Marco Scutaro held his arms out, smiled, and looked up to the heavens, soaking in every last second of a 9-0 win over the Cardinals that capped a second straight comeback.

"It was kind of weird," Scutaro said later. "It never rains here in the Bay Area. I spent four years in Oakland and I don't think it rained once."

The Giants trailed 3-1 in the series but stayed alive with Barry Zito's famous #RallyZito performance in St. Louis in Game 5. Ryan Vogelsong won Game 6 and Matt Cain led a blowout in Game 7, one that was remembered for the wet final inning but also a bizarre game-changing hit by Hunter Pence.

With the bases loaded in the third, Pence broke his bat swinging at a 95 mph fastball. He hit the ball three times, once at contact and twice as he followed through. The knuckleball fooled Cardinals shortstop Pete Kozma and the ball shot into the outfield. All three runs would score.

The Giants cruised from there, becoming the first team in MLB history to get to the World Series by winning six elimination games.

"It's hard to comprehend," catcher Buster Posey said that night. "When your backs are against the wall, you just play for that game. You have to believe you have a great group of guys that can do this, and we do."
