The Los Angeles Angels are already 16 games back in the American League West. One player they are getting calls for is infielder Yunel Escobar, and the Giants have "expressed interest" in the veteran according to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick.

Escobar, 33, is hitting .310/.359/.409 with three home runs in 69 games for the Angels this season. He has been used strictly as a third baseman, but has experience at shortstop and second baseman as he was a primary shortstop up until last season.
This season, Escobar is under contract for $7 million and has a $7 million team option next year with a $1 million buyout.
San Francisco placed Duffy on the DL Tuesday after straining his left Achilles Monday in Tampa Bay.
Duffy is hitting .253/.313/.358 with four home runs in 70 games this season, one year after finishing second in National League Rookie of the Year voting.
