It's been well documented that Red Sox manager John Farrell met with Hanley Ramirez recently in south Florida, with the meeting chronicled on Ramirez's Instagram account.
What wasn't known until recently, however, is that Farrell also visited with Pablo Sandoval -- another Red Sox veteran charged with getting into better shape this winter.
"Right now,'' said Farrell on Wednesday, "he's roughly 20 pounds lighter than the last game he played for us in 2015. I know for a fact that both guys (Sandoval and Ramirez) went into the off-season with some clear markers, with some clear goals to achieve from a physical standpoint. Both are doing that.
