MILWAUKEE -- Brandon Belt's sore knee got Ryder Jones in the Giants' starting lineup Sunday. A knee injury knocked Jones out in the fifth inning against the Brewers.

Jones, a September call-up, crumpled in the batter's box after taking a swing in the fifth inning at Miller Park. He yelled out as he was falling down and immediately grabbed his left knee. Giants trainer Dave Groeschner and manager Bruce Bochy came out to check on Jones, and he was walked off the field.

Jones was making just his fifth appearance of the season, but he looked poised for a shot over the final three weeks. Belt has been in and out of the lineup with his own injury, and Jones is the backup at first base and third. He hit a long homer Saturday night to get the Giants within a run in the eighth.
