Since the Carlos Correa deal fell apart, the only public comment from the Giants has been a two-sentence press release put out Wednesday morning, a few hours after the shortstop reached an agreement on new terms with the New York Mets.
But the front office did attempt to provide a bit more clarity to players Thursday.
Sources told NBC Sports Bay Area that president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi spoke to the team on a short Zoom call in the afternoon that included players, manager Gabe Kapler, coaches and members of the staff.

Zaidi did the majority of the talking before opening it up to questions, and people on the call said he took responsibility for what happened this week and told players he believes in the group, but that many questions still were left unanswered.
The Giants have not given further details publicly because Correa's new deal still is pending a physical with the Mets. That was true on their internal call, too, leaving some players to continue to wonder about the specifics of how the Correa deal unraveled in the hours before he was set to be introduced.
Correa agreed to a 13-year, $350 million deal with the Giants last week, and the team was set to introduce him Tuesday morning at Oracle Park. He had a physical Monday, and the Giants informed Correa's agent, Scott Boras, that there was an issue. Per sources, the Giants had concerns about Correa's right leg.

When Correa's camp was informed that the Giants would not go through with the deal, Boras found a new one reportedly worth $315 million over 12 years with the Mets. Correa arrived in New York on Thursday, and the physical is expected to be completed Friday.
At a Thursday morning press conference to introduce ex-Giants left-hander Carlos Rodón at Yankee Stadium, Boras told reporters that he expects the new Correa deal to be announced by Christmas.
