The Toronto Blue Jays are migrating north.
After spending the first two months of the MLB regular season at their spring training facility in Florida, the Blue Jays announced that they will be returning to Buffalo, New York in June.
The Toronto-based team made Buffalo their temporary home during the 2020 shortened season after the Canadian government said they could not play in Toronto. The Blue Jays played home games at Sahlen Field -- home of their Triple-A affiliate, the Buffalo Bisons.
The Blue Jays' first opponents in Buffalo will be the Miami Marlins on June 1 and 2. Fans who are fully vaccinated or recently tested negative for COVID-19 will be able to attend Blue Jays home games, but Sahlen Field will only allow 24 percent capacity due to COVID-19 restrictions.
It isn't clear yet if the Blue Jays will be in Buffalo for the remainder of the season, but as of now, the U.S.-Canada border remains closed to non-essential travel.
