Watch Giants win 18-inning marathon on Rockies' botched fielder's choice

It took 18 innings, and lasted 5 hours and 35 minutes, but the Giants finally prevailed over the Rockies on Friday night.

Err...Saturday morning.

Anyway, it ended in strange fashion.

The Giants loaded the bases, so the Rockies went with the trendy five-infielder setup. And it almost worked for Colorado.

Veteran catcher Erik Kratz hit the ball to Ian Desmond, who got up and threw home. His throw beat Brandon Belt to the plate, but Rockies backstop Chris Iannetta didn't have his foot on home base.

The Giants and Rockies came close to setting the record for latest end-time at AT&T Park/Oracle Park.

It's also been a long time since the Giants had a walk-off hit in the 18th inning or later. A REALLY LONG TIME.

It's over. Go to bed.

By the way, the Giants and Rockies play again in 12 hours.
