It had been two years and one day since a Giants player hit a grand slam.

The nightmare finally is over, thanks to Kevin Pillar, who was recently acquired from Toronto.

The glove-first center fielder crushed a four-seam fastball from Eric Lauer into the left field bleachers in the bottom of the fourth inning Monday night at Oracle Park. It gave the Giants a 5-0 lead over the Padres.

Yes, the Giants didn't hit a grand slam last season. That shouldn't surprise you.

Anyway, the drought is over. All hail Kevin Pillar.
