Harrison believes his repertoire will ‘attack' MLB hitters

The Giants expect prospect Kyle Harrison to continue the run of talented pitchers to come up through the team's farm system.

San Francisco's second-best prospect behind outfielder Marco Luciano, Harrison is ranked No. 22 in MLB's Top 100 so expectations are understandably high for the 21-year-old lefty.

With the countdown starting on when the Giants decide to call up Harrison to the big leagues, the Richmond Flying Squirrels starter spoke with NBC Sports Bay Area's Carlos Ramírez on various topics, including his pitch repertoire.

"Right now, I got the four-seam fastball," Harrison told Ramírez. "I think it plays well because of the approach angle that I throw at, and I got a slider off of that that hopefully tunnels out of the same slot, and I'm throwing that thing around the mid-80s."

The Giants' top pitching prospect is also working on adding another pitch to his arsenal while in the minor leagues. Harrison wants to ensure that he can keep batters off balance at the plate when the time comes for him to make his MLB debut for San Francisco.

"And then that new changeup I'm working on, that's something that I'm starting to really like and get a feel for," Harrison added.

"So, yeah, just trying to attack. And I'm going to be a guy that goes out there and try to win as much as I can at the end of the day."

Harrison's 2022 season has been split between High-A Eugene Emeralds and Double-A Richmond, posting a 4-3 record with a 2.24 ERA.

Furthermore, regarding his estimated arrival time, MLB has it at 2023. Considering how Harrison has pitched so far this season, that can change with a possible call-up before the end of the Giants' 2022 campaign.
