When Bryce Harper's 13-year contract ends, the Bay Area will look different

A lot can change in 13 years.

Thirteen years ago, the year was 2006 and the Giants had zero World Series titles in San Francisco, and the Warriors were still a laughing stock. This was before Buster Posey, Madison Bumgarner, and Tim Lincecum. Before "We Believe" -- let alone this current Warriors dynasty -- ever happened.

After Bryce Harper spurned the Giants and reportedly agreed to a 13-year deal with the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday, the baseball world had one common reaction: 13 years is a lonnnnnnnnnnng time.

As Harper is only 26 years old, he is projected to age well into his 30s, which is why the Phillies were willing to give such a lengthy deal. The Giants were even willing to give him a 12-year contract, but ultimately were outbid by Philadelphia.

While Harper will be 39 when the deal expires at the end of the 2031 season, how will some other notable Bay Area athletes look in 2032, when Harper would next be on the free agent market?

Warriors star Steph Curry will be 44 years old, and likely retired ... but who knows? We'd be willing to bet Steph could still shoot over 40 percent on 3-pointers well into his 40s.

Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford will be 45. Will he still have that glorious hair?

And how about Jumbo Joe? Sharks center Joe Thornton will be 53 in 2032, and we can only hope that his beard continues to grow exponentially.

While Giants fans are likely upset that Bryce Harper didn't give them the rose, feel free to check back here in 2032 to see if the deal would have been worth it.
