The #FullSquad didn't last long for the Giants.
Third baseman Evan Longoria came off the COVID-related IL on Tuesday but immediately went on the 10-day IL with a right hand contusion. Longoria was hit while swinging at a pitch last Wednesday, but he had been on the IL on Sunday because of side effects related to a vaccination shot, which led to an interesting move Tuesday.
The Giants needed to clear a 40-man spot with Longoria coming off the COVID IL, and they temporarily did so by putting Kevin Gausman on the IL with vaccine-related side effects. That kept them from DFA'ing someone, but also means that, for Tuesday night's game at least, the Giants have just 25 players on the active roster.

As strange as it is to see the Giants not take advantage of every active roster spot, they also are in a crunch with their 40-man right now, and this buys them at least a couple of days to try and settle that one. Gausman is not scheduled to start until Friday in Atlanta and figures to be back on the roster for that game.
While the Giants are a player short, they do have an eight-man bullpen Tuesday night because Johnny Cueto hasn't been activated yet, and the group is well-rested.

Longoria missed more than two months with a shoulder injury and played just five games after returning. He was 5-for-12 with a homer. With Kris Bryant getting a scheduled day off, Wilmer Flores is starting Tuesday night against his former team.
San Francisco Giants
Manager Gabe Kapler said he wanted Bryant to combine Tuesday with Monday's off day to get a good break before hopefully playing the rest of this road trip.
