Fireworks, hot dogs and Joey Chestnut. Those are the three essentials for a successful Fourth of July.

Chestnut, a Bay Area native who lives in San Jose, is looking to defend his title at the annual Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest at Coney Island. After losing his title in 2015 to Matt Stone, Chestnut has three straight titles and 11 overall.

The 35-year-old set a new record of 74 hot dogs eaten last year. Will he set a new record this year? We're about to find out.
