The nickname for Maple Leaf Square in Toronto, which derives its nickname from the hit Steven Spielberg movie, has gained notoriety of late due to the throngs of Raptors fans that flood the multi-purpose area to cheer on the defending champions.
Sacramento Kings fans envision something similar for the area in front of the Golden 1 Center, and anyone who is loyal to the Seven Kingdoms shouldn't have any problem guessing the proposed name.

King's Landing.
Carmichael Dave and Kyle Madson of KHTK 1140 and Kevin Fippin of SacTown Royalty have been pushing to get DOCO Plaza renamed to King's Landing after the capital of Westeros in George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" and HBO's "Game of Thrones."
The idea has started to gain traction of late, especially after rapper T-Pain referred to the plaza as King's Landing in a tweet.
Then, King's Landing made an appearance on ESPN's "The Jump."
You might be thinking: "Didn't King's Landing get eviscerated by dragon fire during the final season of 'Game of Thrones?'"
Yes, it did. But the theme park in Jurassic Park was overrun by genetically engineered dinosaurs who tormented the workers and two children and no ones says boo about it when Raptors fans are going bananas during the playoffs.

The Kings took a leap last season, and are primed to break through and snap their playoff drought next year. The Western Conference is filled with dangerous teams, but a young Kings team should strike fear into the hearts of any true championship contender.
Just ask Stannis Baratheon. Playing a meaningful road game at King's Landing is no picnic.
