Blazers' Covington throws mask towards ref, ejected vs. Kings

Robert Covington wasn't having a great game Wednesday night against the Kings, and the Portland Trail Blazers wing made it worse at the end of the first half at Golden 1 Center.

After Buddy Hield hit a 3-pointer with 49 seconds remaining in the first half, a stoppage in play led to Covington taking off the protective mask he was wearing and flipping it towards the scorer's table, where one of the game officials was standing.

The referees reviewed the video of the incident and deemed the mask toss a hostile act towards them, assessed a technical foul and ejected Covington from the game.

Covington wears the mask to protect himself against concussions.

The 30-year-old Covington went scoreless in 15 minutes of action against the Kings and missed his only shot.

Considering Covington is one of the Blazers' best defenders, the Kings' task just got a little bit easier.
